Polyp / Yupo Pendant

Polyp / Yupo Pendant investigates expanding organic volumes through a system of repeated paper components. Inspired by the irregular growth of fruiting forms, the project explores how subtle variation can produce families of related objects rather than a single predetermined shape.

Assembly becomes ornament as signature tabbed connections define both the structure and surface of the lamp. Laser-cut Yupo paper panels interlock without adhesives or additional hardware, creating a lightweight, flat-packed construction that simultaneously encloses, diffuses, and filters light.

Developed through a custom parametric workflow, the Polyp system allows many distinct forms to emerge from a shared assembly logic. The Yupo series established the foundation for an ongoing investigation into how material influences the behavior of the same underlying structural system.
