Drift
Bench Seating
Drift explores how a single repeated profile can generate an entire design object. Developed during a summer 2026 residency at Pocosin Arts School of Craft, the bench grew from an investigation into laminated poplar curves. With that, the profile became the system.
Repetition transformed a simple laminated line into structure, joinery, and rhythm. A series of lap joints connect components, allowing gesture and construction to develop together rather than independently.
Individually thermoformed Corian seat panels follow the same gestural rhythm, allowing surface and structure to participate in a continuous expression.
