The Fugue Series [fyo͞oɡ] borrows its name from the symphonic terminology for a melody that passed back and forth as an imitative expression. The Fugue Series presents a draping wood surface aligned to rolled steel tube, each half supporting where the other leaves off. Tamboured wood surfaces, a lamination of beveled wood and fabric, use calculated bevel angles to create curves that drape and mimic steel framework. Behind the scenes, a custom parametric algorithm assists in finding bevel angles used to arc the tambour as it adjusts to various curve radii. Steel is manually bent and TIG welded into continuous linear frameworks.
